Welcome back to the Summer term in EYFS!
We would like to welcome everyone back after the Easter break and hope that you have all had a great holiday and ate a LOT of chocolate!
The Summer term is always very busy (with reports, assessments, sports day and transition) yet enjoyable and Mrs Walker, Mrs Holman and I are looking forward to a fun filled 10 weeks.
As I set out in the letter (sent out Friday 3rd May), your children will be joining with the Year 1 children every morning to complete their Maths and English activities. This will help to aid transition and will help them get used to working in a different classroom and in a larger group. However they will have the benefit of being with the adults they are familiar with. We have been working in this way for a week now and the children have risen brilliantly to the challenge. We will be working separately again in the afternoons and will be based back in our EYFS classroom. This organisation will continue until half term.
The topics for this term will be -
Week 1 - Baby me!
Week 2 - Growing and changing
Week 3 - Life cycles - frog
Week 4 - Life cycles - butterfly
HALF TERM BREAK
Week 5 - Handa's surprise
Week 6 - Our Dads!
Week 7 - Noah's ark
Week 8 - Billy's bucket
Week 9 & 10 - At the sea side
Our PE days are Thursday (Gymnastics) and Friday (Athletics). Please ensure your child has their kit in school on these days. "Show and tell" sessions will re-commence on a Wednesday afternoon. When it is your child's turn they will bring home a bag and show and tell book. They can choose something to bring in to talk about and the book is for parents to write any notes that will aid your child's talk.
If you would like to talk to any of the teachers in EYFS, then please don't hesitate to approach us at the beginning or end of the day. If you need a longer session then we will endeavor to find a mutually convenient time.
Thank you for your support,
Mrs Chafer, Mrs Walker and Mrs Holman.
