Cooking Rice Crispy Cakes for the Seagrave Village Fete!

Back to school!

Welcome Back

I hope you have all had a lovely Easter break and are ready for a very busy Summer term!

This term the children's Topic will be ‘Fun to be Fit.’

As all of you are aware the Year 1 children will be completing all daily English and Maths lessons with Mrs Chafer, Mrs Holman (student teacher) and Mrs Walker.

The Year 2 children will be working with myself and Mrs Jarram to prepare for the KS1 SATs.

All of the children will join back together in the afternoon to complete their Topic lessons.

During this term the children will be looking at a range of different non-fiction texts.

In Maths the children will be using their problem solving skills when working on their number and place value.

The Year 2’s will continue to develop their reasoning skills in preparation for SATs.

RE – The children will be looking at Holy Books.

P.E - The children will have weekly Gymnastic (Tuesday) and Athletic (Wednesday) sessions. Both sessions will be led by a specialist coach.

Art – The children will be looking at Graffiti Art.

D and T - The children will be looking at Healthy Eating and having a healthy lifestyle.

History - This term the children will be looking at Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole.

Music- Emma Burn will be taking the music sessions this term.

Science - The children this term will be looking at Animals and their Habitats.

Please ensure that your child has P.E kit in school at all times. The afternoon P.E sessions are on a Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon.

I aim to encourage the children to use the role play inside the classroom.

Homework will be given out on a Friday to be bought back into school on a Wednesday. These will consist of spellings and Maths activities, which consolidate the weeks work. Please ensure that your child completes the work and gets the homework back on time.

Spelling tests will take place on a Friday. Spelling sheets must be bought back into school on a Friday.

It is an expectation the children read at home regularly.

Please complete your child’s reading journal if they have read at home.

A signature is needed from an adult to show this has been done.

Please also use the Reading Journals to communicate with me - I will read them daily and I am happy to help in anyway.

I aim to make the children’s KS1 journey enjoyable and fun.

Thank you for your continued support. I am very excited and look forward to the new term.
