Our topic for Autumn Term 2 is ‘Explorers’. This is a science and history based topic.
This term we will be writing character and setting descriptions. The children will also be writing letters and focusing on both fiction and non-fiction texts.
Phonics, spelling, punctuation and grammar are timetabled daily.
We continue to have a reading corner in the classroom for children to enjoy and create time to read books from a range of genres. Alongside this we have an engaging role play and outdoors area.
In Maths, we will work from the White Rose scheme of work. The children will start the term working with number and place value.
The children will be covering Addition and Subtraction, Shape and Measurements. Measurements is a topic which focuses on lengths, weight and amounts of money.
Year 1’s will be covering numbers up to 20 and Year 2’s will be looking at numbers up to 100.
The children will be completing a range of outdoor, practical and written activities during their daily maths lessons.
RE – The children will be looking at the religion of Islam.
PSHCE – The children will be looking at individual liberty.
ICT – The children will learn the common uses of ICT .
P.E – The children will have 1 session of dance and 1 session taught by myself.

Please ensure that your child has P.E kit in school at all times.
Spelling tests will take place on a Friday. Spelling books must be bought back into school on a Friday.
It is an expectation the children read at home regularly.
Please complete your child’s reading journal if they have read at home.
A signature is needed from an adult to show this has been done.
Please also use the Reading Journals to communicate with me – I will read them daily and I am happy to help in anyway.
I aim to make the children’s KS1 journey enjoyable and fun.
Thank you for your continued support. I am very excited and look forward to the new term.
