WEEKLY NEWSLETTER - June 18th 2010

Seagrave Uncovered
WOW ! What a hectic week. The children have had loads of fun, whilst learning, this week. They have had the opportunity to storyboard, study local history, use our new flip digital video cameras, take photographs, use editing software, dress up and work in different groups throughout the school. Our creative partners – Alex and Helen – are going to pull it all together and create a DVD to be shown at the Leavers Assembly and to send to our partner schools in France, Sri Lanka and China.

A big thank you to Alex and Helen, all the staff for making the week so successful and to Mrs Downton for winning the bid in the first place.

Friday assembly
Just to remind you that there will be no Friday assembly this week as we have a Swimming Gala for Class 3 and a football tournament for Class 2.

Fund raiser for PGL Trip
Don’t forget, next week we have the fundraiser for the PGL trip. Class 3 are organising this themselves to help pay for their school residential trip. On Tuesday we have the sponsored walk in fancy dress. This will start at 10.00am in the field.

We then have the ‘bring and buy’ sale at 2.00pm on Wednesday in Class 3. There will be cakes, drinks and a raffle so please come along if you are able. Any cakes to be donated should be brought in on the day but any items for the ‘bring and buy’ sale can be placed in Class 3 anytime.

Venture Productions – ‘Big Bully’
Also, on Wednesday morning, we have a theatre company coming to perform the ‘Big Bully’ - a play designed to get the children thinking about how our actions can affect others. Don’t forget to ask the children all about it on Wednesday evening. If they are anything like my children they will have forgotten all about it by lunchtime!

FOSS – Year 6 Leavers Jolly
You should have received a letter today about the Year 6 leavers event. FOSS have spoken to the current Year 6’s and asked what they would like to happen. Most agreed that they did not want a disco and so we are holding a fun afternoon for them on the last day of term. There will be a BBQ and lots of activities. Parents and family are invited to join in from 3.00pm.

Sports Day
We have a tradition at the school where we always have Sports Day whatever the weather! For those of you that have survived the last 2 years will know what I mean. Don’t forget that this WILL take place on Thursday 1st July at about 1.15pm. All welcome – bring a brolly.

You will have received a letter per parent for the
forthcoming Parent Governor election.
