WEEKLY NEWSLETTER - May 14th 2010

ECO Week
Our Eco week will start on Monday morning. The children will be working in their House Groups and will spend Monday to Thursday mornings working in different classes around the school. Each class will have a separate activity which means that all children will complete all activities by Thursday lunchtime! That is the plan at least.

If you want to pop in one morning and help in a class, feel free. Just come along to the office and we will let you know the class that needs support. Activities will start at around 9.30am each morning.

No WOW Assembly
There will not be a WOW assembly this week as Class 3 have a visiting drama teacher from Humphrey Perkins coming in to do a drama workshop.

Class 2 Quorn Hall Trip
Well done to Class 2 who had a brilliant trip this week. They looked exhausted by Tuesday afternoon, as did the staff. It was really funny watching some of the children trying to put a quilt in a pillowcase cover.

A huge thank you to all the staff that took part in the trip. It is really good of them to give up their own time so that these events can happen.

We are hoping to organise a ‘Quorn Hall’ Class 2 assembly next week so that the children can tell everybody exactly what they got up to!

Year 6 SATs
The Year 6 SATs have been completed. A big well done to all of Class 3 for behaving so well and working so hard. Let’s hope this will be the last year of them!

Lunchtime Play
A few people have asked me whether we take the children over to the field at lunchtime for play. I have looked into this and have been told that the field is considered offsite and therefore the rules of adult ratios apply. This means that to take the whole school over we would need 8 adults! To take Class 2 and 3 over to the field we need at least 3 adults as well as one in school to look after Class 1 and Reception. We can do this, on occasion, but not regularly as we currently run Gardening and Library Club which already rely on staff giving up part of their lunch break.

If there are any parents that would be prepared to come into school to help between 12.30 and 1.00pm on any day, so that we can use the field more often, please let me know. This doesn’t have to be an every week arrangement but I will need to know a day in advance to check that we have sufficient cover.
