FOSS Meeting
Thanks for the responses to the above meeting. The meeting will be next Wednesday, 5th May at 6.00pm at school. If you did not reply but can come along, please join us.
Mary Mestecky’s Visit
Mary Mestecky, the children’s author, visited Class 2 on Monday and read one of her books. The children then had a question and answer session with her. All had a good time. A number of the children bought one of her books and had it signed.
Class 1 Explorer Day
Explorer day looked great fun in Class 1 on Tuesday and the children enjoyed themselves but loved the learning. Thanks to all the staff for their hard work in organising and planning that event. A big thank you to the parents that came in to help us.
Class 2 Quorn Hall Trip
Please can you make sure that the balance for this trip is paid by next Wednesday, 5th May. It should be a great trip and I know I am really looking forward to it.
Year 6 SATs
As you may have heard the various unions have had a ballot about whether or not to administer the Year 6 SATs this year. The results are in and the ballot has come out in support of a boycott. This is going to be discussed at the Barrow Development Group meeting on Thursday which consists of all Primary Heads in the area as well as the Heads of HPHS and Rawlins.
I have spoken about this to Miss Spencer and we feel that it is too close to the SATs to boycott them this year. I will keep you informed but at the moment the SATs will go ahead during the week beginning 10th May.
At the end of the day we will do what we think is in the best interests of our children as, after all, that is who we are all here for.
Child Care
We have a couple of children starting in June in Years 1 and 3 and their parents are struggling to find child care on a Monday and Wednesday after school. If anyone is a child minder or knows of any places available please could you let the office know.
Welcome
A big Seagrave welcome to William who has joined us in Class 2.
