The Role of the Governing Body
As the governing body, we work with the school on planning and developing policies and also by keeping the school reviewing how it is working. The Governing Body works alongside the Head Teacher and Staff to constantly strive for school improvement, to offer support and advice and to help the school listen and be responsive to the needs of the pupils, parents and the community.
The Seagrave School Board of Governors divide into a number of different committees in order to discuss and review different elements of school business in a structured way. These committees are:
Child Protection
Health and Safety
Finance
Curriculum and Development
Pupil Exclusion
Pay and Conditions, Staff Discipline and Complaints
Special Areas of Responsibility
In addition to the committees, a number of Governors have special areas of responsibility which include Special Educational Needs (SEN), the Foundation Stage, the Chair and Vice Chair.

Our school has a school council that is made up of children from Year 2 to Year 6. They play an active part in running the school and as such are part of the school's Governing Body. They meet regularly to discuss issues raised by their peers and also have a yearly budget to buy things that they consider will enrich the life of the school.
