Welcome to our Eco-council page! We meet once a month and discuss ways we can make our school and community a more eco sustainable environment.
The Eco Council are aiming for Green Flag status. They have been working on many initiatives this year. The most recent was our Waste Week which all the children took part in. It was a very successful week and we had some amazing BLING A BOTTLE entries for our waste week homework.
Reception: - Created plastic parachutes.
Class 1: - Invented, created, wrote about and designed Junk Superheroes creating the Junk Model Alliance.
Class 2 - Created Junk Robots.
Class 3 - Created bottle botonics - by growing plants and bulbs in plastic bottle bottoms.
Waste Week 2017
Seagrave School took part in waste Week campaign which ran from 6th -10th March 2017. Many school are now trying to change their processes and action to become ' Zero-Waste' sites - and it is achievable, with the help of using Eco Schools.
The theme this year was 'upcycling'. Turning an item into something else. Eco schools gave away great resource packs, which were designed to be fun and easy to engage with, whilst being linked to the curriculum.
Class1 and Class 2 took part in a session, being waste detectives. This involved finding answers to their questions about waste; these were located around the school and the school grounds.
At the end of that week we sent home a plastic milk bottle, for a competition, asking the children (if they wanted to take part) to turn this bottle into something different, something that could be reused. The response was amazing. Please see the pictures.
