We are now called the Dolphins
Autumn Term 2017
Welcome back to a new school year in Class Two.
Our topic for the Autumn Term is Battle Of Britain. This is a history/geography based study. We are looking at World War Two and developing our understanding of British World History.
We will continue to have discrete grammar and punctuation lessons which will develop our writing.
Guided reading will take place weekly but will often be a whole class lesson.
We shall begin with shape poetry following on with stories that have historical settings.
In Maths, we will work from the White Rose scheme of work. We always begin a new term looking predominantly at numbers and their place value, then moving onto the four operations.
Children will develop their reasoning skills throughout these concepts.
History / Geography - World War Two
PSHCE- New beginnings - Rules
MFL - French - Lifestyles
P.E - Football
Art - Still life drawings using mixed media
R.E - Second half term - Christianity and Celebrations
P.E will take place on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon and the Year Three children will be swimming on a Monday morning for this term. Please ensure that your children have appropriate kit in school on these days.
Homework will be given out on a Friday to be bought back into school on a Wednesday. The continuity of spellings and times tables weekly with occasional other relevant research as the weeks materialise.
It is an expectation that children read every night and fill in their own diary entries.
A signature is needed from an adult to show this has been done. Children will stay in and read at break time if not signed.
Please can you make sure that you encourage your child to do homework, read regularly and have any equipment they need in school at the correct times.
Thank you for your continued support.
