Summer Term 1
Welcome to the Summer term. We are all hoping for some nice weather and lots of outdoor learning. P.E is changing to a Tuesday morning and Friday afternoons. Please ensure that P.E kit is in school everyday as things do change.
Here is a little overview for what we have planned this year:
Autumn 1 - Explorers
Autumn 2 - Time Travellers
Spring 1 - Arctic Adventures
Spring 2 - Plants
Summer 1 - Farm to Fork
Summer 2 -Super Heroes and Villains
School: We are looking at units of measure this half term a having a big focus on reasoning and problem solving. The children are great at turning our maths arithmetic questions into stories to help them answer tricky questions.
Home: Timestables - Tests are back this half term with the treat tray refilled and certificates ready to go.
School: We will be focusing on two books this half term; The Quenn's Hat and Beegu, followed by some poetry.
Home: Try and read everyday for at least 10 minutes. I know it can be difficult but it really can make a big difference. We are looking into the books in our higher level reading bands to ensure we have lots that are age appropriate.
We are starting a new topic on plants and will see the return of our successful Eco towers from 3 years ago. We will also be looking at senses.
Computing will have a focus on coding and touch typing.
Where is Britain? Where are the poles? What are the continents? What are the seas and oceans? Just some of the questions we will be answering this half term.
Art and D&T
In art we will be finishing our Kandinsky work and followed by some whole class cooking.
WW2 will be in the Summer term 2.
The children will be learning about rhythm and rhyme.
What are and how can we be leaders.
Homework – This half term we are running a half term homework and then weekly spellings.
We do not check book bags on a daily basis so please ensure you remind your child to pass on any notes or homework. Thank You!
I don't bite so please feel free to speak to me in the playground in a morning or ask at the office to arrange a formal meeting should you need one.
